1970’s
In Roermond, The Netherlands, the construction company Lecon B.V. with specialism on plastics processing equipment had its base. Heat exchangers, grinders, densifiers, extruders and feeding equipment were designed, constructed and sold.
1980’s
From a close partnership with the Dutch company DSM, the construction operation transformed into a compounding operation where thermoplastics are formulated, produced, packed and sold. Extensive knowhow of plastics processing equipment, a strategic plant location close to the German and Belgian borders, combined with an open and flexible approach, kick-started the business and production grows rapidly. Polyethylene, Polypropylene and EPDM were compounded into tailor made formulations. Functional additivated, mineral filled and impact modified compounds and masterbatches were produced in an expanding product range.
1997
Lecon B.V. is sold to the Dutch trading group Transmare, which has a rich history going back to 1953 with its head office in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Transmare is known for its connection to BeNeLux, German and French customers whilst acting as distributor/exclusive agent for American and later also Asian producers. The company name of Lecon is changed into Transmare Compounding B.V.
In the following years, many factory upgrades take place, Newer extruders are acquired and relocated with increased feeding options. Separate blending and mixing facilities are setup, logistics is professionalized. A mechanical and chemical lab and R&D test facility is constructed.
2002
The portfolio expands rapidly with cross linkable polyethylene (XLPE), glass fibre reinforced polypropylene, film masterbatches, flame retardant compounds and masterbatches. Lab and R&D departments are further optimized. Own branded products as well as toll compounding / comaker compounding services are offered. For many clients, Transmare Compounding acts as an extension of their own production.
2010
Further expansion of product range. Polystyrene compounds and masterbatches, PET compounds, biopolymer blends and plant based compounds with natural fibres from bamboo, wood and hemp. Engineering plastics like nylon and polycarbonate. EPDM elastomer blends. Transmare Compounding becomes more and more an international player from start-ups, to mid-size and multinational companies. The neutral character and pragmatic approach makes Transmare Compounding a highly appreciated partner.
2018
Transmare Compounding B.V. is taken over by The Compound Company B.V., a Dutch compounding group with reactive compounding (grafting) specialism in several plants, well known as the Yparex brand, derived from the former DSM. The head office of The Compound Company is based in Enschede, The Netherlands. The cooperation between the various plants further boosts the EcoForte brand.
2022
The Compound Company acquires the production site, product portfolio and customer base of Exxelor polymer resins – from Exxon Mobil in Cologne, Germany. Exxelor is a chemically modified polyolefin-based resin family that boosts the performance of engineering thermoplastics and other polymers. The Exxelor grades are re-branded into the Yparex portfolio.
Sustainability is key for many long term partnerships. Increased volumes and new applications are developed from low carbon footprint raw materials, recycled content and lightweight, high performance fibre reinforced composites across all factories.
2026
In 2026, The Compound Company sold its entire shareholding to Polieco. Following this transaction, Transmare continued its operations independently under Compovate. A new name in the compounding world, but with compounding roots and experience going back to the 1970’s. Its products are also rebranded into Compovate. The Roermond facility as well as the PT Resindo Compounding Technologies plant in Jakarta, Indonesia continue independently under the same shareholders.
