Upcycling

We believe that recycled materials can play an important role in the transition towards a circular economy. At the same time, we understand that recycled polymer streams can vary in quality and consistency. For demanding applications, using 100% recycled content is therefore not always the most suitable solution.

That is where upcycling comes in. At Compovate, we develop high-value compounds containing up to 80% recycled content, while using the remaining material to fine-tune the formulation and achieve the specific performance requirements of the application.

By combining recycled polymers with carefully selected virgin materials, fillers, and additives, we can create compounds that balance sustainability, consistency, processability, and performance.

From recycled streams to high-value compounds

Our upcycled compounds are developed around the recycling stream, plastic conversion process, and desired property profile. We focus primarily on mechanically recycled polyolefin streams, including both post-industrial recycled (PIR) and post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials.

With our extensive experience in polyolefin compounding, we can develop solutions for a wide range of applications and processing techniques, including injection moulding, extrusion, and 3D printing.

We also offer glass fibre reinforced upcycled compounds, combining recycled polymer streams with short glass fibre reinforcement. By optimising the formulation, we can achieve an effective balance between recycled content and mechanical performance.

Upcycling

We are not a recycler. Instead, we use our expertise in formulation and compounding to turn recycled polymer streams into consistent, high-value materials suitable for demanding applications.

Closed-loop partnerships

Creating a more circular polymer industry is a challenge that cannot be solved by one company alone. That is why we work closely with partners throughout the value chain to develop closed-loop solutions.

By collaborating with recyclers, manufacturers, converters, and other value chain partners, we gain a better understanding of material characteristics, processing requirements, environmental targets, and regulatory demands. This enables us to develop compounds that are not only technically suitable, but also contribute to a more efficient and sustainable material cycle.

We combine the reliability, expertise, and innovative power of an experienced compounding partner with a flexible, hands-on, and customer-focused approach. Together with our partners, we develop and produce the compounds needed to support the transition towards a more circular future.
